Wittur Group (Wittur GmbH) is a German company that provides elevator components like elevator doors, hydraulic and MRL drive machines, elevator cars, elevator shaft equipment and safety devices. Founded in 1968, it is one of the leading manufacturers of elevator components in the world. They are also the producer of Kone AMD door components.
Selcom (current Wittur S.p.A) was originally a subsidiary of the Wittur Group founded in 1977. The logo is still can be found on their door components[1][2][3].
History
Wittur was founded by Horst Wittur in 1968 as Wittur-Aufzugteile GmbH in Miesberg & Co. In 2000, they took over Kone's door components system.
On August 11, 2015, Wittur announced that it would merge with Sematic Group as an attempt to expand itself in the elevator industry[4], and in 2016 Wittur acquired Sematic Group[5].
Notable projects
Wittur Group usually provides their component for major elevator companies, such as Schindler. The following list below mostly contains the components that they have installed except for Kone installations which use AMD door operators under Kone's name. Trivia
- Their Hydra Plus door components are often referred as "Selcom" by elevator enthusiasts and even elevator technicians in Hong Kong, China[6]. They are considered to be Wittur's most best-selling products, an identification of the genuine Wittur's door components.
- Because Kone's door components system has been taken over by Wittur Group in 2000, the Kone AMD linear door operators (patented from Montgomery Kone) are now produced by Wittur Group. However, Kone components label is still presented on the door components.
