synergy is thyssenkrupp's current global traction MRL elevator produced since 2005.
Overview[]
thyssenkrupp synergy is an MRL elevator system introduced in 2004-2005, excluding the United States and Canada until late 2007. It is currently a completely global product line, sold in almost every region around the world and consist of various region specified models. Their difference is the different code applied by different countries and regions, like ASME A17.1 in United States and EN81 in Europe and Asia.
United States[]
- Main article: thyssenkrupp Synergy (North America)
synergy is thyssenkrupp's second and current MRL elevator in the United States. It was first introduced in late 2007 as a successor to the ISIS. Unlike it's predecessor, the synergy uses conventional steel ropes as they are deemed safer than Kevlar ropes. Additionally, there are no fixtures made exclusively for the synergy.
Outside the United States[]
There are few slightly different models of synergy elevators sold outside the United States, other than the regular synergy ones.
Europe[]
In Europe, thyssenkrupp currently sells three different types of synergy elevators, they are synergy 100 (for residential buildings up to 12 floors), synergy 200 (for residential and commercial buildings up to 20 floors with moderate traffic) and synergy 300 (for commercial buildings up to 20 floors). The same lineup is also sold in the United Kingdom and Ireland.
The previous European synergy model is a self supporting elevator with synchronous gearless drive and VVVF control. It has a 2600mm high shaft top termination which takes up 30% less space compared to conventional elevators. Instead of shaft pit, the synergy has a 400mm pit cavity which takes up to 70% less space, but this is actually optional. The fixtures used in these elevators are very similar to the new STEPMODUL, this time they have blue illuminating buttons and blue LCD floor indicators, similar to European Otis Gen2. This particular synergy model was succeeded by synergy BLUE in 2012, but it was discontinued in early 2017 and replaced by the current synergy 100/200/300 models.
thyssenkrupp marketed the synergy elevators with the slogan "ONE WORLD. ONE ELEVATOR".
In Spain, synergy is currently available as synergy 100, synergy 200 and synergy 300[1], just like in Germany and the rest of Europe. Before that, there was a Spanish synergy model manufactured by ThyssenKrupp Elevator Manufacturing Spain, featuring unique and attractive interior designs[2][3]. It was mainly sold in Spain but it could also be exported to other continents such as Central America (Mexico is an example[4]) and Africa (one installation is known to exist in Cape Verde[5]).
Asia Pacific[]
In Asia Pacific, it is still known as synergy, which is currently produced by thyssenkrupp Elevator China. It is only available in China and probably selected countries. This is because the synergy is no longer sold in most markets (including Australia) and has been succeeded by the enta200 and evolution1 MRL models. The current Chinese synergy model is targeted for residential buildings up to 15 floors.
There was also a South Korean version of synergy which was manufactured by ThyssenKrupp Elevator Korea[6]. However, it was discontinued and succeeded by the enta200 model.
The Asia Pacific version of synergy elevator is different to the European version, but it has shaft pit as mandatory (such as Hong Kong's Code of Practice, related to the rated speed). In addition, it also uses a set of fixtures known as STEP Module Classic and MT42 push buttons. The South Korean synergy uses its own fixtures made by ThyssenKrupp Elevator Korea.
Other regions[]
In Central and South America, the model is sold as synergy 100, 200 and 300 models, just like in Europe.
thyssenkrupp Elevadores Brazil currently produce two types of synergy elevators; synergy and Modular synergy, the latter is a model designed for existing buildings without an elevator.
