Sigma Iris was a model of traction elevator model of Sigma Elevator Company. It was available between the mid 2000s until early 2010s.
Description[]
Iris is a passenger traction elevator model with gearless machine catered for low to high rise residential and commercial buildings; the limit of how high the elevator can travel is 40 floors. It was manufactured by Sigma's Chinese subsidiary Dalian Sigma Elevator Co. Ltd. in Dalian, China. The model was launched in the mid 2000s. Production continued until around the early 2010s when it was succeeded by Sigma Iris NV (now ACRA since 2019).
Characteristics[]
This model can be easily identified by its:
- Unique arrival chimes; two-stages for upward and four-stages for downward.
- A Sigma logo with the words "Subsidiary of Otis Elevator Korea" below it. There is also a different, unique looking Sigma logo with the words "DIGITAL ELEVATOR" and "Otis Korea Technology". Some elevators, however, do not have either of these words.
- Door tracks/sills that are slightly slimmer than the Sigma Distributed Inverter (Di) elevators.
- Door operation speed that is quite distinctive compared with the Sigma Di elevators.

- Serves up to 32 floors (for 1-1.75 m/s speeds) and 40 floors (for 2-2.5 m/s speeds)
- Up to 4 elevator cars in a group control system
- Can have two entrances
- Door types; center opening or two speed telescopic sliding doors
- Can be a panoramic elevator as an option
- Can be equipped with Sigma NeT elevator monitoring system as an optional feature

Trivia[]
- The model was named after the goddess of rainbow and messenger of the gods of the same name in ancient Greek mythology.
- Those that are equipped with Samil Eltec SICON controllers use different chimes, which are from Samil. Some of these elevators also have Samil voice announcement as well.
