Schindler 5000 is a traction elevator model of Schindler elevator, currently in-production since its gradual introduction in 2020[1]. It is now replacing the Schindler 5500 on several international markets. This model is one of the three brand new models released as part of Schindler's new generation modular elevator solutions under the company's "Adding the EXTRA to the ORDINARY" promotional slogan (the others being Schindler 1000 and Schindler 3000, extended with Schindler 6000 in 2024)[2]. The version for full replacement of older elevators is called Schindler 5000 Plus[3]; additionally Schindler uses designations 500 Plus[4] (not to be confused with the Schindler 500/500A/500P) and 50 Plus[5] for elevator upgrade packages, which make most of the older Schindler elevators having components standardized to what can be seen in a brand-new Schindler 5000 elevator.
The model is very similar to Schindler 5500, and it is designed for mid to high rise residential and commercial buildings.
In 2024, Schindler launched the sister model, Schindler 6000, which is positioned higher in Schindler's elevator offering. Maximum specifications for new Schindler 5000 elevators were reduced, as written below. Those made Schindler 5000 purposed for mid-rise buildings and Schindler 6000 for higher buildings. However, their operability in buildings higher than 150 meters (maximum height defined in official specifications of Schindler 6000) and lower than 210 meters (original maximum height defined in official specifications of Schindler 5000) became unavailable, reducing such buildings to qualify only for a high-rise Schindler 7000 elevator installation.
