Otis Spec Alza and Spec Creces was a elevator model of Otis Elevator Company Japan in 1989 for Creces, 1990 and 1991 for Alza (Traction and hydraulic respectively), and both model was available mostly in Asia as VVVF traction version (which known as Spec 90 in the countries other than Japan) or hydraulic version. Spec Alza is the upgraded version and the successor of Spec Creces. Spec Creces was discontinued in 1994 and Spec Alza (Traction and hydraulic) was discontinued in 2001 and 2002 respectively. However, it is nearly impossible to distinguish whether it is a Spec Alza or Spec Creces due to its similarity, controller (Only for the elevators installed in 1990-1994).
Overview[]
Design and fixtures[]
The fixtures of these two models consist of dark gray, which is for Spec Alza or white square buttons, which is for Spec Creces, with an orange illuminating halo. The floor indicator is a digital display with 16-segments numbers. In addition, Otis made two types of hall and car stations; the first one is just a basic steel panel, another one is surfaced mounted panel. Hall lanterns, if present, are illuminating squares with the arrow printed on them. There was also a hall indicator with analogue display, featuring illuminating squares with the number and arrow printed on them. Other than those standard fixtures, the customized design for the floor indicators and other types of buttons options (such as Dewhurst) are available upon request.
A lot of Asian YouTube elevator enthusiasts refer to these fixtures as "Otis 3200 fixtures", due to the fact that these fixtures were also used in Otis 3200 elevators in the 2000s which were made in China. However, Otis 3200 is not the official name of these fixtures.
The only way to distinguish whether it is a Spec Alza or a Spec Creces is looking at the button colour. If it is white colour, it is a Spec Creces, and black is Spec Alza. Though it might not be 100% accurate. This rule does not apply to elevators with non-proprietary fixtures like Dewhurst.
