Otis NCE is a series of escalators currently produced by Otis Elevator Company since the 1990s.

Description[]

The NCE is Otis's series of escalators designed for commercial applications such as shopping centers, office buildings, hotels, convention centers, hospitals, etc. According to Otis, NCE is a flexible modular escalator that can be assembled based on client's specifications. The first model in the series is the NCE 506, which was launched in 1994[1].

Models[]

To date, there are three models of NCE escalators that Otis made, they are 506 NCE, 508 NCE and 512 NCE.

506 NCE[]

506 NCE is a modular design escalator used for shopping centers, department stores, offices, hotels, hospitals and exhibition centers. The step width, rise and incline can be vary depending on the application. This model is known to be sold in the United Kingdom and likely in other counties, but not the United States. It was launched in 1994 and it is the first model in the series.

Specs:

  • 30/35 degree angle of inclination
  • 24" (600mm)/32" (800mm)/40" (1000mm) step width
  • 6.5 m maximum rise
  • 0.5 m/s speed

508 NCE[]

Not to be confused with Otis XO-508

508 NCE is the model for shorter travel distances. There are 3 models of the 508 NCE. There are multiple differences between them, but the most notable difference appears to be the step width:

  • 50824 - 24" step width
  • 50832 - 32" step width
  • 50840 - 40" step width

Specs:

  • 4'-11-1/16" minimum rise height
  • 26’-2-15/16” maximum rise height
  • 24"/32"/40" step width
  • 100 fpm speed

512 NCE[]

512 NCE is the model for longer travel distances. There are 3 models of the 512 NCE. There are multiple differences between them, but the most notable difference appears to be the step width:

  • 51224 - 24" step width
  • 51232 - 32" step width
  • 51240 - 40" step width

  • 26’-3” minimum rise height
  • 39'-4-7/16" maximum rise height
  • 24"/32"/40" step width
  • 100 fpm speed

  • The NCE is not sold in Southeast Asia, China, South Korea and possibly other Asian countries. Instead, the LINK or XO-508 escalator model is sold there.
