Otis Micro-Drive was an elevator model introduced by Otis in 1915.

Overview[]

Otis Micro-Drive is a traction (and maybe winding drum) elevator system. It was the first self leveling elevator system. It has a basic type of self leveling (it will self level at all landings, but only if it is within a certain distance from the floor). It uses a secondary, slower motor connected to the drive sheave for slower leveling speeds. A model with 2 speeds (1 main motor speed, 1 leveling motor speed), and a model with 4 speeds (2 main motor speeds, 2 leveling motor speeds) are known to exist.
