Otis-Fensom Elevator Company was a Canadian elevator company based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, which was a regional operations company of Otis Elevator Company in Canada. It was a result of a merging between Fensom Elevator Works and Otis Elevator Company in 1905. Since 1949, all Otis products sold in Canada are just branded "Otis", this means the end of the "Otis-Fensom" brand.
History[]
The history of Otis-Fensom started out as John Fensom Iron Works in Toronto, which was founded in 1867 by John Fensom. In 1882, the company changed name to Fensom Elevator Works. In 1905, Otis Elevator Company merged with Fensom after Otis opened a factory in Hamilton, ON three years earlier as an attempt to expand its business to the Canadian elevator industry. From there, the company became Otis-Fensom Elevator Co. and would install elevators and escalators in Canada under the Otis-Fensom name. In September 1949, the Fensom name was dropped and the company became simply Otis.
