Nidec Corporation (Japanese: ニデック株式会社, formerly known as 日本電産株式会社 in Japanese) is Japanese manufacturer of small and medium sized electric motors as well as electrical components based in Kyoto, Japan. It has a role in the elevator industry where it provides elevator, escalator and moving walk solutions under its commercial and professional products field[1].

Nidec Corporation was founded in 1973 by Shigenobu Nagamori in Nishikyo-ku, Kyoto, Japan as Nippon Densan Corporation. It is unknown when Nidec entered the elevator industry.
On November 2, 2012, Nidec through its American subsidiary Nidec Motor Corporation acquired Kinetec Inc., an American company who at that time also owned Imperial Electric, China based Kinetek De Sheng, California based Motion Control Engineering[2] and several other companies.
In December 2016, Nidec acquired Canton Elevator Inc., an elevator company based in North Canton, OH, United States[3].

- In Indonesia, Nidec elevators are distributed by PT. Inovatif Trans Teknologi (or ITT).
- ITT also provides elevator modernization which mostly targets elevators made by GoldStar, LG and even Sigma, due to the fact that ITT serves as an "agent" for Jaya Kencana (the distributor of the three said brands) for modernization and maintenance of those elevators.
- In Australia, Nidec products appears to be distributed by Queensland Elevators, an elevator company operating in the Australian state of Queensland.
- In Hong Kong, Nidec elevators are distributed by Nikkin Lift & Escalator Services Limited (taken over by Otis in 2017), Vertex Engineering Limited, and Anlev Elex Elevator Limited.
- Some of the button fixtures used by Nidec resemble Kone's KDS300-AUS buttons.
