Mitsubishi Series J (also known as J-Type) was an escalator made by Mitsubishi Electric. It was produced from 1986 until the mid 2000s when it was succeeded by the Series Z escalators. It was continued to be sold in South Korea at some point until it was discontinued.

The J-Type is also made by Mitsubishi's subsidiary Shanghai Mitsubishi and it is still produced by this company.

Description

Mitsubishi Series J is a standard escalator model designed for commercial buildings, shopping centers, office buildings, convention centers, airports and other buildings. It is a helical gear driven escalator which could save power up to 30%. This escalator has a compact sized truss which could save space up to 10%. Safety features included in the Series J escalator are drive-chain safety device, step-chain safety devices, speed governor, etc.

There are three different types of Series J escalators. Each type is distinguished by the balustrade type:

  • JS-SE: Slim balustrade with glass panel
  • JS-LE: Glass panel balustrade with illumination under the handrails
  • JP-E: Stainless steel balustrade.
