The Kone DX Class is a series of elevator models produced by Finnish elevator manufacturer Kone.

Description[]

Kone DX Class, with DX being an abbreviation for "digital experiences", is a series of elevator models with built-in connectivity as standard features; this includes elevator connection with Kone's digital platform and application programming interfaces (APIs) which allows building owners to customize their elevators with third party softwares and services according to their needs and preferences. It also has the option that allows owners to activate Kone's Residential Flow or 24/7 Connected Services digital services remotely for their elevators. Kone claims the DX Class as the first elevator system with built-in connectivity in the world.

At present, the DX Class comprises the Kone MonoSpace DX machine room less elevator, Kone MiniSpace DX mini machine room elevator and Kone TranSys DX freight elevator models. It replaces Kone's existing MonoSpace, MiniSpace and TranSys lineups. DX Class was unveiled on November 29, 2019 and was first available for the European market in December 2019[1], followed by Asia Pacific in 2021, and Middle East and Africa in late June 2021[2], followed by United States and Canada in 2022.

Its current competitors in the "digital elevator" segment are Schindler 1000/3000/5000, Otis Gen3 and Otis Gen360.

Models[]

MonoSpace DX[]

MonoSpace DX is the DX Class version of the existing Kone MonoSpace machine room less elevator.

Europe[]

The MonoSpace DX made its first launch in Europe in December 2019. It replaced the previous Kone MonoSpace 300, 500 and 700 variants into MonoSpace 300 DX (for residential buildings), MonoSpace 500 DX (for low to mid rise buildings) and MonoSpace 700 DX (for buildings with demanding traffic) respectively.

  • Maximum speed:
    • Up to 1 meters per second for MonoSpace 300 DX
    • Up to 1.75 meters per second for MonoSpace 500 DX
    • Up to 3 meters per second for MonoSpace 700 DX
  • Maximum capacity:
    • 1000 kilograms or 13 persons for MonoSpace 300 DX
    • 1150 kilograms or 15 persons for MonoSpace 500 DX
    • 2500 kilograms or 33 persons for MonoSpace 700 DX
  • Maximum travel distance and number of floors served:
    • 18 meters or 4 floors for MonoSpace 300 DX
    • 75 meters or 24 floors for MonoSpace 500 DX
    • 90 meters or 36 floors for MonoSpace 700 DX
  • Can be fitted with KSS 140, KSS 280, KSS 700, KSS Design or KSS H fixtures (the last one is an option)
  • Up to 2 (for MonoSpace 300 DX), 4 (for MonoSpace 500 DX) and 6 (for MonoSpace 700 DX) elevator cars in a group
  • Center opening, two speed telescoping or two speed center opening telescoping doors
  • Can have two entrances as an option
  • Can be installed with Kone Destination destination dispatch

Asia Pacific[]

In Asia Pacific, MonoSpace DX was introduced in 2021. It replaced the previous E/N/S MonoSpace variants into E MonoSpace DX (cost effective variant for residential buildings), N MonoSpace DX (for low to mid rise buildings) and S MonoSpace DX (for buildings with demanding traffic) respectively. Only the E MonoSpace DX is available in selected countries.

    • Up to 1.75 meters per second for E MonoSpace DX

    • 1000 kilograms or 13 persons for E MonoSpace DX
    • 1600 kilograms or 21 persons for N MonoSpace DX
    • 2500 kilograms or 33 persons for S MonoSpace DX
  • Maximum travel distance and number of floors served:
    • 75 meters or 28 floors for E MonoSpace DX
    • 120 meters or 48 floors for N and S MonoSpace DX
  • Can be fitted with KDS 220, KDS 330, KDS Design, as well as KSS 140 and KSS 280
  • Up to 3 (for E MonoSpace DX), 4 (for N MonoSpace DX) and 6 (for S MonoSpace DX) elevator cars in a group
  • Center opening or two speed telescoping opening doors
  • Can have two entrances as an option
  • Can be installed with Kone Destination destination dispatch as an option

United States and Canada[]

In United States and Canada, MonoSpace DX was introduced in 2022. It replaced the previous MonoSpace 300, 500 and 700 variants to MonoSpace 300 DX (for residential buildings), MonoSpace 500 DX (low to mid rise buildings) and MonoSpace 700 DX (for buildings with demanding traffic) respectively.

  • Maximum speed:
    • Up to 150 feet per minute for MonoSpace 300 DX
    • Up to 700 feet per minute for MonoSpace 500 DX
    • Up to 500 feet per minute for MonoSpace 700 DX
  • Maximum capacity:
    • 3500 pounds for Kone MonoSpace 300 DX
    • 5000 pounds for Kone MonoSpace 500 DX and 700 DX
  • Maximum travel of distance:
    • 48' or 4 floors
    • 350' or 36 floors
    • 300' or 36 floors
  • Can be fitted with KSS 140 and KSS 570, Innovation fixtures on custom order
  • Up to 2 (for MonoSpace 300 DX), 4 (for MonoSpace 500 DX) and 6 (for MonoSpace 700 DX) elevator cars in a group

MiniSpace DX[]

MiniSpace DX is a DX Class version of the existing Kone MiniSpace machine room elevator.

Europe[]

The European Kone MiniSpace DX replaced the previous Kone MiniSpace model. Besides mid rise buildings, it can also be a high speed elevator for high rise buildings with up to 63 floors.

  • Gearless traction with Kone EcoDisc machine installed in a small machine room
  • Kone KCE microprocessor controller
  • 4 meters per second of maximum speed
  • 2000 kilograms or 26 persons of maximum capacity
  • Can serve up to 210 meters or 63 floors
  • Can be fitted with KSS 140, KSS 280, KSS 700, KSS Design or KSS H fixtures (the last one is an option)
  • Up to 8 elevator cars in a group
  • Center opening or two speed telescoping doors
  • Can have two entrances as an option
  • Can be installed with Kone Destination destination dispatch

Asia Pacific[]

Similarly, the MiniSpace DX became available in the Asia Pacific markets starting from 2021. It replaced the E/N/S MiniSpace variants into E MiniSpace DX, N MiniSpace DX and MiniSpace DX respectively. MiniSpace DX is also a replacement of Highrise MiniSpace, the high speed variant of MiniSpace previously sold in the region for high rise buildings. Like MonoSpace DX, only the E MiniSpace DX is available in selected countries.

United States and Canada[]

In United States and Canada, MiniSpace DX was introduced in 2022. It replaced the previous Kone MiniSpace model. Besides mid rise buildings, it can also be a high speed elevator for high rise buildings with up to 63 floors.

High-Rise MiniSpace DX[]

For higher buildings, the High-Rise MiniSpace DX elevator is available. It replaced the original Kone Highrise MiniSpace product and belongs to the Kone Major Projects offering of elevators and escalators for high-rise and special construction projects.

  • Gearless traction with Kone EcoDisc machine, up to MX 100, installed in a small machine room
  • Kone KCE microprocessor controller
  • 10 meters per second of maximum speed
  • 2000 kilograms of maximum capacity
  • Can serve up to 640 meters (using Kone UltraRope hoisting belts; they are capable of travelling at higher distances)
  • Up to 12 elevator cars in a group
  • Usually installed with Kone Destination except for service elevators

TranSys DX[]

The Kone TranSys DX is the DX Class version of the Kone TranSys machine room less freight elevator.

Europe[]

The European version of Kone TranSys DX is the successor of the previous Kone TranSys machine room less freight elevator in Europe, including the United Kingdom and Ireland (named as MonoGoods). There are two variants available; one is the regular TranSys DX for freight transportation and the other one is TranSys DX Passenger for passengers.

  • Maximum speed:
    • Up to 1 meters per second speed for TranSys DX Passenger
    • Up to 1.6 meters per second speed for TranSys DX

    • Up to 2500 kilograms or 33 persons for TranSys DX Passenger
    • Up to 5000 kilograms or 53 persons for TranSys DX
  • Can serves up to 40 meters or 14 floors
  • Known fixtures that can be fitted are KSS 140 and KSS 700
  • Up to 4 elevator cars in a group
  • Two speed telescoping center opening doors
  • Can have two entrances as an option

Asia Pacific[]

The TranSys DX was introduced for the Asia Pacific markets in 2021 along with the rest of models belong to the DX Class series. It is the only variant available in the region for use as freight and/or passenger elevator, unlike in Europe where there are two different variants sold in there (see above). The TranSys DX replaced the previous Asia Pacific version of TranSys.

  • Can travel up to 40 meters or 12 floors

  • Known fixtures that can be used are KDS 330 and KSS 140. There is a possibility that KDS 220 can be used as well, but this is unconfirmed as of now
  • Two speed telescoping center opening doors
  • Can have two entrances as an option
