List of Kone elevator fixtures

This is a list of Kone elevator fixtures found in almost every countries around the world, excluding the United States and Canada. Note that Kone had some other fixtures design before 1930s, which haven't been listed on this page.

Before 1930's

KONE used to have brown containers with small white plastic buttons.

1930s to 1950s

Kone used the same fixtures from the early 1930s to early 1960. They have small black plastic buttons in the flush mounted metal panel. Alarm buttons are usually white and stop buttons are red. Gated elevators often have only foor buttons. The freight elevator version has bigger yellow buttons in the black surface mounted panel. Floor indicators are mechanical and usually missing. These fixtures are mostly found in Finland and rarely in Sweden.

1960s

NPN6

These are simple black rectangular buttons without illumination. The hall station has either one/two lamps or lamp floor indicator above the call button. These fixtures are nicknamed as "Pianonapit", which means Piano keys.

Solenoid (pop out) buttons

These fixtures are black solenoid buttons which latches on when pressed and pops out when the car stops on the selected floor, similar to Schindler's and Westinghouse's buttons in the 1960s. Pop-out buttons were used from 1960 until 1971. Some Kone pop-out buttons were also used in 1950s, but all of them have been modernized, so they might have been different.

1970s

NPN8 Fixtures

These are white plastic buttons which light up when pressed. The floor indicators are analogue which consists of illuminating squares for low-rise and illuminating rectangles for high-rise buildings. Hall lanterns are wedged arrows and light up orange. These fixtures were used until 1985, when Kone replaced them with the M fixtures. NPN8 fixtures were also known as KAG Fixtures by Swedish technicians, which is short for KONE Asea-Graham, due to the similarities with Asea-Graham fixtures, and as V Series, which stands for "Valkosarja" (White series).in Finnish.

White square buttons

These are large white square buttons that lit inside. They could be provided with information or custom words above the buttons, such as an "In Use" indicator above call buttons.

Touch sensitive buttons

These fixtures are round touch sensitive buttons with a square illuminating halo. They were also used in some Kone Marryat Scott elevators in the early 1980s.[1]

1980s to 1990s

Vandal resistant (aka. SWEDEN)

These fixtures are round solid metal buttons with engraved floor numbers and symbols. There is a small red lamp above the button. They are called as KONE SWEDEN fixtures by technicians and suppliers in Sweden. Introduced in 1980, they were commonly used in Sweden up until 1985, and occasionally used after 1985 in the Scandinavian countries up until 1995.

M buttons

Introduced in 1984, Kone M fixtures were used in traction and hydraulic elevators with Kone Traffic Master System (TMS) control systems. They were also used in MacGregor Kone marine elevators, very few Kone Marryat Scott elevators in England and very early Kone MonoSpace elevators[2] in the late 1990s, as well as modernization during the 1980s-1990s and rarely in the 2000s. These fixtures mostly have barrel shaped and rectangular buttons with illuminating halo and digital floor indicators. Dewhurst buttons and chassis were also provided as an option[3].

Kone M fixtures were discontinued for regular elevator installations in 2001 but were still made for MacGregor Kone marine elevators and few modernizations until around mid 2000s[4]. They were succeed by the Kone Signalization System (also known as KSS) series.

Barrel shaped buttons

These buttons are the most common type found in many M series fixtures in the 1980s-1990s, and simply called as "Kone M Button". The buttons can be black or metallic, and have illuminating halo which light up in green or red. There was also a rare, gold-like version of these buttons. M series barrel shaped buttons can be flat or slightly protrudes. In Europe, the button for main/ground floor is normally marked green and protrudes from the panel. This is to make it easier for anyone to find the main floor or exit.

M series stands for "Mustasarja" (Black series).

Rectangular buttons (SGIT30)

Another version of Kone M-Series button is rectangular with an illuminating halo. These buttons can be black, brown or stainless steel. They are mostly used in mid to high-rise Kone elevators from the late 1980s to the 1990s.

Internally, these buttons are referred to by Kone as SGIT30.

Touch sensitive buttons

Kone also made barrel shaped touch sensitive M-Series buttons. These buttons have a red line on the top. These buttons could be flat or concave. M-Series touch sensitive buttons are very rare.

Floor indicators

Kone M-Series used digital segmented floor indicators from the 1980s until around mid 1990s. During this period, the indicators could only support 7 segments display and as the result the ground floor is displayed as "0" (zero, instead of G) and the basement floors are displayed with a negative/minus followed by the floor number (e.g. "-1" for basement level one). In the late 1990s, an LED dot matrix was introduced, along with a large yellow electroluminescent display which were mostly used in Hong Kong, Finland, Australia and New Zealand. Both single-width font and indicators with the same font as the later Novel Elements line (albeit with a wider lens) were used for LED dot-matrix indicators.

Hall lanterns

Kone M-Series's hall lanterns are very distinctive. Arrows were shaped into triangles with a short line under them and light up by bulb. On later installations, the lanterns consist of six horizontal lines which are shaped like a triangle. Some hall lanterns are also combined with a digital floor indicator, either with segmented or dot matrix LED display.

M buttons for high-rise elevators

This is another style of M-Series fixtures used in high rise elevators in the 1980s and 1990s. Buttons can be silver or black rectangular with red illuminating halo. These buttons were arranged in a vertical zig-zag line. The car stations have a long black rectangular display going horizontally, with a digital indicator and small moving dots which represents the car position. It was also possible to be fitted with custom text as well, which light up red.

Novel Elements

Novel Elements fixtures were commonly found in Scandinavian countries. They were also used in Australia and New Zealand, but very rarely in Asia. They were used in hydraulic[5] and very early Kone MonoSpace[6] elevators in the mid 1990s. They were also used for modernization[7]. Buttons are rectangular with a tiny red lamp on the top left corner of the button. The floor indicators uses scrolling LED dot matrix display. These fixtures uses the same chime as the Kone M-Series. Novel Elements indicators are often used in modernisations, usually in conjunction with either Dewhurst or other fixtures.

Series 220

This is a European version of Series 220 used in mid-1990's that is similar to American Series 220 except they have tactiles on the buttons. Not much is known as these are extremely rare. These fixtures were used in traction and hydraulic elevators with Kone Traffic Master System (TMS) control systems.

Indonesian fixtures

Further information: List of Indolift elevator fixtures#1990s.

These fixtures were only found in Indonesia, and were used in Indonesian Kone elevators from the mid to late 1990s. They were originally made by Indolift sometime in the mid 1990s. When Kone took over the company in 1995, Kone continued to make these fixtures under their own brand until around the late 1990s. These fixtures had two types of buttons. One is a brown or dark grey round button that is convex and has an illuminating number. The second one is a stainless steel button with a black marking and an illuminating halo. The floor indicators used either a 7-segments or an LED dot matrix display, the latter is extremely rare. Kone also retained Indolift's "circle" hall lanterns, but later they switched to a new design featuring triangle lanterns and a simple floor counter.

Hong Kong touch sensitive buttons

These button fixtures are found in Hong Kong, China. It is unknown if they are also found in other countries. Buttons are very similar to Delta/K-Delta buttons except that they are actually touch sensitive and the door control button symbols are transparent.

Other fixtures

Some Kone elevators in the 1980s-1990s were using Dewhurst fixtures, like the US81 square buttons. Custom fixtures also existed.

2000s to present

Sigma

Not to be confused with Sigma Elevator Company.

Sigma[8] fixtures were launched in around the late 1990s, and were used in Kone MonoSpace and early TranSys[9] elevators in Europe, Australia and New Zealand. These fixtures have round buttons that are either silver or black with a tactile and a curved red LED light at the top. The floor indicators use either LED segments or dot matrix display. The interior floor indicator is usually framed, but some others don't.

The Sigma fixtures were also used in a small batch of Kone-branded MonoSpace elevators sold to Japan in the early 2000s, as a part of Kone's venture with Toshiba Elevator and Building Systems Corporation; most of these elevators are currently maintained by Toshiba itself.

Delta

Delta[8] fixtures were launched in around the late 1990s. It was Kone's common fixture between the early and mid 2000s and was available in Asia, Europe, Australia, New Zealand as well as, but extremely rare, the United States and Canada. Delta fixtures were used for new installations and modernization. Dewhurst chassis was also available as an option (such as in Hong Kong), as well as an Innovation chassis on the Canadian and American Kone elevators.[3] Delta fixtures have been discontinued in around 2006[10].

There are at least four types of buttons; one which is round, two which is square, three which is rectangular, and four which is oval/eclipse. These buttons came out either as stainless steel or black coated (with tactile and braille) and have a red LED line on the top. In Hong Kong, some rectangular stainless steel Delta buttons have both tactile and braille on them[11]. Floor indicators uses the same LED display as the one used in Sigma fixtures. There was also an electroluminescent display, with either a black background with yellow character or a grey background with a black character. Hall lanterns have two triangles which light up either red or yellow. Some hall lanterns, especially those installed on the main floor have a floor indicator in between the two lanterns.

Kone made four versions of Delta fixtures, they are:

Delta ThinLine

This is a surface mounted fixture. Hall stations are simply mounted on the wall without having to recess the wall. The modernization version of this fixture is called ReVive Elegant Thinline[12]. ReVive Elegant Thinline has both surface mounted hall and car stations.

Delta SlimLine

This is a flush mounted fixture. Hall stations are flushed mounted on the wall. The modernization version of this fixture is called ReVive Elegant Flushline[13], ReVive Evergreen Flushline for historic/vintage elevators[14] and Revive Luxury Flushline[15]. ReVive Luxury Flushline is the only one that has yellow electroluminescent floor indicators.

Delta AntiVandal

This is a vandal resistant version of Delta. It has a transparent digital segmented floor indicators and Kone Sigma hall lantern arrows. The modernization version of this fixture is called ReVive AntiVandal Flushline[16].

Delta Evergreen

This is a version of Delta fixtures which was exclusively used for modernization of old elevators. It features flush mounted fixtures with an ornate motif.[14]

K-Delta

K-Delta is very similar to Delta (see above). It is primarily used in Asia from the early to mid 2000s. It features black square buttons with a red LED strip at the top. The interior floor indicator is the Kone Sigma type, with a rounded rectangular frame. For the hall station indicator, it is the same type as Delta Slimline. Dewhurst chassis were also provided as well as landlords request[3]. Kone K-Delta fixtures have been discontinued and replaced by the current KDS series.

Thyman fixtures

Further information: List of Thyman elevator fixtures.

These fixtures were originally made by Thai Lift Industries in Thailand. When Kone bought the company in 2005, Kone continued on making these fixtures in Thailand for a few times. These fixtures consist of buttons that are shaped to look like the rectangle Kone M buttons. Square buttons were also available. The floor indicator is LED dot matrix display. Sometimes generic buttons could also be used in these fixtures.

KSS Series

Kone Signalization System (or KSS) is the current fixtures used in almost any Kone elevator models. It is primarily used for the European market. KSS fixtures consists of plastic silver-coated buttons with orange, blue or white illuminating halos, a dot-matrix floor counter, and a directional indicator consisting of a rhombus and two trapezoids. The trapezoids are positioned diagonally with their bases facing the sides of the rhombus on both left and right; they are positioned at the bottom of the rhombus for up and placed at the top for down. This directional indicator is also in the floor counter below the dot-matrix display[17]. The KSS series fixtures currently in production are KSS-140, -500, -570, -600, and -900 for the North American market, and KSS-140, -280, -300, -305, -400, -470, -570[18], -670, -800[18], -900[18], -970, -D20[19] and -D40[19] for the European market. The current KSS series sold in the Asia Pacific markets are KSS-280, -800, and -900, although past series have been sold in this region as well such as the KSS-470, -520, -570, -620 and -670. Only the KSS-280, -800 and -900 series are currently sold in most Asian countries. They also usually install ACU F floor announcement[20] module with those fixtures.

In late 2010, Kone released the KSS-140 series vandal-resistant and KSS-130. The KSS 140 fixtures used in North America use Innovation chassis. In Europe and Asia, Dewhurst buttons are also provided as an option.[3]

KSS 300-400/305

KSS 300-400/305 has a distinctive look. It consists of round plastic silver-coated buttons with yellow orange halo and tactile. Call station is shaped like a lozenge and it is surface mounted. The car station inside the car is flush mounted. For main floor, the button slightly protrudes and has green illuminating halo. The floor indicators are black lozenge-shaped display with either a LED segmented or dot matrix display and and a directional indicator consisting of a rhombus and two trapezoids. KSS 300-400 is currently used for the European Kone EcoSpace[21] and EcoSpace B3. The KSS 305 is used for Kone TranSys/MonoGoods[22] elevators in Europe (in the United Kingdom, TranSys is known as MonoGoods).

Australian KSS 305

Similar to KSS 470, Australian KSS 305 have protruding edges to meet Australian Design requirements. Compared to Australian KSS 470 and Australian KSS 520, these fixtures are rare.

KSS 420

KSS 420 looks very similar to KSS 300-400, but the car station is half-height and surface mounted. It uses the same call station design as KSS 300-400/305. Indicators are either LED segmented or dot matrix. These have been discontinued in 2021 for new installations but still made for modernizations

KSS 470

KSS 470 is similar to KSS 420 (see above), except that the car station is full-height and surface mounted. The call station has a more squarish design, unlike KSS 420. Indicators are either LED segmented or dot matrix.. The modernization version of this fixture is called Revive KSS 210[23] and 430[24]. ReVive KSS 210 are flush mounted while ReVive KSS 430 are surface mounted and still being made.

Australian KSS 470

KSS 470 buttons in Australia have a modified design to include a protruding edge around the button to meet Australian Design requirements. These buttons are only found in Australia.

KSS 520

KSS 520 have round plastic tactile buttons which also have halo lamp. Additionally, the floor number and symbols would lights up when the buttons are pressed. Floor indicator displays are similar to KSS 470 but the display shape is rectangular instead of lozenge. The modernization version of this fixture is called Revive KSS 520[25] and Revive KSS 610[26]. These fixtures were discontinued sometime in 2008.

Australian KSS 520

KSS 520 buttons in Australia have a modified design to include a protruding edge around the button to meet Australian Design requirements. These buttons are only found in Australia, as well as one recorded appearance in New Zealand.

KSS 570

KSS 570 fixtures are surface mounted fixtures. They have round or square plastic silver coated buttons with illuminating halo and tactile (amber, blue or white). Floor indicators are either LED dot-matrix (amber, blue or white) with scrolling chevron-shaped arrows or black and white LCD display. Hall lanterns also lights up in either amber, blue or white. There is also a keypad version for Kone Polaris destination dispatch called KSP 576. Kone also called these fixtures as KSS 570 Lambda for certain markets[27].

KSS 620

KSS 620 is similar to KSS 520. Additionally, the floor number and symbols would lights up white when the buttons are pressed. Floor indicators are usually white LED, and often comes in either white-lit LCD or white dot matrix floor indicators. In Australia, the buttons comes with protruding edge to meet with the Australian Design requirements. These fixtures might have been discontinued.

KSS 670

KSS 670 is similar to KSS 570, except that it is a flush mounted fixture.

KSS 900

KSS 900 is another fixture line for Kone Polaris destination dispatch elevators, and it is sold in Europe and Asia Pacific. The destination operating panels (DOP) consists of plastic solver coated round or square buttons and a LCD display. DOPs also comes in surface (KSP 937) or flush (KSP 947) mount, as well as a Touchscreen version known as D-Series. The car station for KSS 900 is the KSS 570/670 style, with round or square projecting buttons and LCD indicators. For elevators working with traditional (full configuration) destination dispatch, there are two LCD floor indicators on the car station; one for showing the registered car calls and the other one is for showing the car's position.

KSS 970

KSS 970 is a flush mounted fixtures with either rounded or square flushed buttons buttons. Floor indicators are either LED dot matrix (white, amber or blue, shared with KSS 570 and 670) or a full color LCD display. They are often used in Kone Marine elevators in cruise ships. There are also some KSS 970 fixtures which have had their original LCD interface changed to a newer interface featuring the KONE Information typeface.[28]

Revive KSS

Revive KSS is a series of fixtures for modernizations of older Kone and non-Kone elevators. They are all based on the regular KSS series that are used in new Kone installations. Revive KSS fixtures might have been discontinued.

Revive KSS 210 and 430

Both Revive KSS 210 and 430 are based on the KSS 470 series. Revive KSS 210 is flush mounted, while Revive KSS 430 is surface mounted.

Revive KSS 520

Revive KSS 520 is based on the KSS 520. It features surface mounted landing stations and flush mounted car stations with orange illuminating buttons and LED floor indicators. In Australia and New Zealand, these fixtures have a modified design to include a protruding edge around the button to meet Australian Design requirements.

Revive KSS 610

Revive KSS 610 is based on the KSS 620. It looks very similar to the KSS 520/Revive KSS 520 except that the landing stations are flush mounted, and both the buttons and floor indicators illuminates white. It also has a LCD floor indicator display as an option. Like Revive KSS 520, in Australia and New Zealand, these fixtures have a modified design to include a protruding edge around the button to meet Australian Design requirements.

KDS

Not to be confused with Kinetek De Sheng.


KDS is the current fixtures line used for elevators in Asia and Pacific (Australia and New Zealand) since the mid 2000s. It is a successor of both Delta and K-Delta fixtures in Asia, and KSS in both Australia and New Zealand. The current KDS series produced are -50, -220 , -300 and -330. KDS 330 was launched in 2015 while KDS 220 was launched in 2016. There was also a version of KDS for modernization called ReVive, which is a combination of KSS 420, KDS 50 and KDS 300 fixtures[29]. Kone ReVive might have been discontinued.

In 2015, Kone launched the KDS 330 series which is based on KSS 280, followed by KDS 220 a year later.

KDS 50

KDS 50 have surface mounted round buttons with either red or white illumination. The buttons can be black or stainless steel. Early KDS 50 fixtures have surface mounted car stations which can be lozenge or rectangle shape. Plus, the car floor indicator is separated from the car station. Floor indicators are either LED dot matrix or segmented display. Landing stations are surface mounted. It is possible for KDS 50 fixtures to be fitted with KDS 300-AUS buttons; these are commonly found in Australia and New Zealand. In the early 2010s, Kone introduced a new design of KDS 50 which features a new floor indicator design, with an addition of LCD display as an option. The early design is retained and still available as of now.

KDS 200

These fixtures might have been the very first KDS series. They are heavily based on the Kone Delta fixtures[30]. These fixtures were possibly only available in China. KDS 200 have been discontinued.

KDS 290/300

These fixtures consist of square or round stainless steel buttons that can be flush or surface mounted. In addition, it has five illumination color options for the buttons and LED indicators, they are red (standard), blue, white, green, and orange. Floor indicators used LED dot matrix display. KDS 290 refers to the surface mounted landing stations while KDS 300 refers to the flush mounted landing stations. In the 2010s, KDS 290 was no longer available. Sometimes, Dewhurst chassis are also provided as an option[3]. STEP buttons are also possible to be mounted on a KDS chassis[31], but this is extremely rare.

KDS 300-AUS

KDS 300-AUS are round or square surface mounted buttons with braille, tactile and a raised halo. They slightly illuminate when not pressed; it is to indicate whether a floor is accessible/unlocked or not. They can also be mounted on a KONE KDS 50 and KDS Design panels. These fixtures are designed primarily for Australia and New Zealand, but are occasionally found in other Asian countries too.


KDS 290/300 LED floor indicators

These LED indicators can light up red, blue, white, orange or green. KDS 290 refers to surface mounted landing fixtures.

KDS 290/300 hall lanterns

Kone KDS have different styles of LED-based hall lanterns. KDS 290 refers to surface mounted landing fixtures.

Evergreen

These fixtures are designed for vintage elevator modernizations. These fixtures are made to look older. The buttons are small black buttons, with a red halo. These fixtures are only known to exist in Finland and Sweden, but they might also exist in some other countries. Originally these fixtures were launched in the early 2000s as ReVive Evergreen Flushline, which was based on the Kone Delta fixtures line[14].

2010s to current

KSS

In the early 2010s, Kone launched four new series for the KSS fixtures line; KSS 130 and KSS 140 which are vandal resistant fixtures and KSS 280 and KSS 700 which are normal fixtures. Also by this time Kone has discontinued several KSS series, and now only make KSS 140, 470, 570, 900 and KSS Design series. The KSS 130 might have been discontinued.

KSS 130

KSS 130 fixtures are durable, vandal-resistant fixtures normally found in European countries. These fixtures have surface mounted, round silver-coated buttons with amber or red halo and look similar as Dewhurst M-10 and M-20 Series buttons. The floor indicators are amber KSS 570/670-style LED dot-matrix with a stainless steel mesh display, making them vandal-resistant looking. In addition, the arrows on the hall lanterns are transparent. There are also fixtures that are similar to KSS 570/670 except it does not have a halo instead they are bead blasted stainless steel have tactile which light up when pressed. KSS 130 might have been discontinued.

KSS 140

KSS 140 is another type of vandal-resistant fixtures. These fixtures have round grey metal buttons with grey braille plates next to them, and use the same style of floor indicators as KSS 130. KSS 140 was launched in late 2010.

KSS 280

KSS 280 was launched in 2012, and it is available in Europe and Asia Pacific. These fixtures have square stainless steel buttons with white illuminating halo and high-contrast segmented LCD floor indicators. There are also white square buttons with braille plates, similar to ADA-compliant fixtures in North America. Panels are surface mounted. The call button panels have pressure bar on the top and/or bottom side with a black chevron-shaped arrow that lights up white when pressed. Sometimes the black square displays in the middle of the panel can be an LCD indicator as an option. Kone KSS 280 uses the KONE Information typeface (font) made by Dutch typeface designer Underware in the same year.[32] It was originally used in KSS 280 fixtures and was later adopted as Kone's corporate typeface.

By 2020, a flush mounted full height car station is available which look like a KSS 330 car station that is only found in Asia Pacific.

KSS 305

These fixtures remains the same as they were first introduced in the 2000s. They are only used in Kone TranSys elevators. These have been discontinued in 2021

KSS 470

Kone still makes KSS 470 fixtures, primarily for MonoSpace, MiniSpace, TranSys and few other models. These are surface mounted fixtures with a full height car station. These have been discontinued in 2021

KSS 570

Kone still makes KSS 570 fixtures, primarily for MonoSpace, MiniSpace, and TranSys elevators. These are surface mounted fixtures.

KSS 670

Kone still makes KSS 670 fixtures, primarily for MonoSpace, MiniSpace, and TranSys elevators. These are flush mounted fixtures.

KSS 700

KSS 700 was launched in November 2019 along with Kone DX series elevators (compromising the models MonoSpace DX, MiniSpace DX and TranSys DX). It is initially available in Europe and only for DX series elevators. KSS 700 looks the same like KDS 330 fixtures which are only found in Asia Pacific, but the only difference is that the arrow on the interior floor indicator is positioned next to the floor number rather than above it.[33]

KSS 800

KSS 800 is a fixture line for Kone Polaris/Destination destination dispatch elevators and it is sold in Asia Pacific and Europe. It is divided into two types; Stainless steel or D-design. For this fixture, the door jamb destination indicator has white LED dot-matrix with scrolling arrows and it is known as KSJ 853/863; KSJ 853 has a width of 33 mm while KSJ 863 has a width of 50 mm. All KSS 800 destination operating panels (DOPs) are surface mounted. In Asia Pacific, this fixture line comes along with the KDS 300 series. KSS 800 uses the KONE Information typeface.[32]

Stainless steel

The destination operating panels (DOPs) have black round buttons and black indicator with white LED dot-matrix. The hall and car station for this type is the KDS 300 or KDS 330 series, although the KDS 330 can only be used for the car station. There is also a Touchscreen destination panel known as KSP 858[34].

D-design

D-design has a similarly design destination panels as the KSS 800 stainless steel. The hall and car stations for this line are the black KSS Design (KSS D) series. The car station can be either partial (D20) or full (D40) height. There is also a Touchscreen destination panel known as KSP 978P[34].

KSS 900

KSS 900 is another fixture line for Kone Polaris destination dispatch elevators, and it is sold in Europe and Asia Pacific. The destination operating panels (DOP) consists of plastic solver coated round or square buttons and a LCD display. DOPs also comes in surface (KSP 937) or flush (KSP 947) mount, as well as a Touchscreen version known as D-Series. The car station for KSS 900 is the KSS 570/670 style, with round or square projecting buttons and LCD indicators. For elevators working with traditional (full configuration) destination dispatch, there are two LCD floor indicators on the car station; one for showing the registered car calls and the other one is for showing the car's position.

KSS H

This is a handicap car station with Dewhurst JUS91-30EN buttons. The panel is a square box that is mounted on a handrail. These fixtures were also launched in November 2019 along with KSS 700 and Kone's DX Series elevators, and only available in Europe.[33]

KDS

Not to be confused with Kinetek De Sheng.


KDS fixtures are primarily used in the Asia Pacific markets and are made in Kone's factory in Kunshan, China. The current KDS series in production are KDS 50, 220, 330 and KDS Design.

The KDS 330 fixtures were launched in 2015, followed by KDS 220 a year later. In 2020, KDS 330 and the redesigned KDS 50 were discontinued and was replaced by KDS 330 and KDS 220, respectively.

KDS 50

In the 2010s, Kone redesigned the KDS 50 fixtures with a new landing station and floor indicator design. An LCD display with either blue or black background with white segmented characters became available as an option. The car station is now flushed to the wall and no longer feature a separate floor indicator. The buttons remains the same as before, which are round surface mounted buttons with either red or white illumination, and can be black or stainless steel. The LED indicators are always red. The early design of KDS 50 car stations is still available as of today. KDS 50 was discontinued in 2020 and replaced by KDS 220.

KDS 72

KDS 72 is a set of fixtures that is made by Kone India, and exclusive in India. It uses KDS 300's surface mounted round buttons and KDS 220's floor indicators with orange LED segmented display. The hall stations bear a striking similarity with KDS 220[35].

KDS 90

KDS 90 is a set of fixtures that is made by Kone India, and exclusive in India. It uses KDS 300's surface mounted square buttons and floor indicators with white LED segmented display[36]. The surface mounted hall stations bear a similarity with KDS 50. The flush mounted hall stations have a similar arrangement with KDS 330, that is, a floor indicator in between the two landing call buttons[37].

KDS 96

This is a touch sensitive fixture that is made by Kone India, and exclusive in India[38].

KDS 220

KDS 220 was launched in 2016 and it is the latest series of the KDS fixtures family. It is mostly based on KDS 330 (see below), but compared to it, KDS 220 uses less glass and different indicator options; either an LED dot matrix indicator with the exact same font as KDS 330 (albeit ditching the red colour option in favour of orange), a slightly modified Kone Information LCD segmented display, or a LED segmented display unique to KDS 220. Buttons are surface mounted and can be either black or stainless steel with white illumination. As with KDS 330, hall indicators may either be integrated into the hall station or mounted in a separate module above or to the side of the doors.[39] Lanterns are also an option, and take the form of a square module above or to the side of the doors.[39] The typeface (font) used for the button markings is KONE Information[32]. A regular KDS 300 wheelchair side panel can also be used along with this fixture as an option[40]. KDS 220 is basically a simplified and modular version of KDS 330 (see the next few sections below). These fixtures serve as the replacement for KDS 50 after the latter had been discontinued in 2020.

KDS 300

Kone redesigned the KDS 300 fixtures in the 2010s with minor updates, and by this time, a new LCD floor indicator with either blue or black background and white segmented characters become available. In addition, the surface mounted KDS 290 fixtures were completely removed from the lineup, making KDS 300 a completely flush mounted fixtures lineup. These fixtures are also used in modernization of older elevators, regardless of brand.

In Singapore, the flushed mounted square buttons have a black tactile (instead of illuminating number) and braille marks to meet the local accessibility codes[41].

KDS 300 was discontinued in 2020 after more than 10 years of production. The successor of these fixtures is confirmed to be KDS 330. However, the braille version of KDS 300 buttons are still available as optional buttons for KDS 330 .

KDS 300-AUS

These are round or square push buttons that are part of KDS 300 with braille, tactile and a raised frame. Colour choices include white, blue, green, red or orange; most fixture lines only use a subset of those colours, with only KDS 300 being observed with the full set. The buttons usually remain illuminated, albeit dimly, when unpressed (some buttons do not illuminate at all to indicate that a floor is locked), and increase its brightness when they are pressed. Rare buttons instead light white when unpressed and blue when pressed. They are commonly used in Australia and New Zealand, and are used in KDS 50, 220, 300 or 330 instead of their usual buttons.


KDS 300 LED floor indicators

These indicators can be red, blue, white, green or orange. In the 2010s, Kone discontinued the KDS 290 surface mounted landing fixtures, which means that these landing indicators are now flushed mounted.

KDS 300 LCD floor indicators

These indicators can have either blue or black background with white segmented characters. There are also full color TFT-LCD displays. The car floor indicators can be either full or partial display.

KDS 300 hall lanterns

These hall lanterns are all flush mounted and uses LEDs.

KDS 330

The KDS 330 was launched in 2015 and it is slightly based on the KSS 280 fixtures. Buttons are round black with silver collar and can be surface or flushed mounted with white illumination. KDS 300 buttons can also be used for this fixture for various code requirements. The floor indicator uses the KSS 280 LCD segmented display, but an LED dot matrix (white or red) and a TFT-LCD display are also available as options[42]. Like the KSS 280, it uses the KONE Information typeface[32] for the button markings and floor indicator characters. In India, these fixtures are known as KDS 93, without the red option for the LED dot matrix variant[43]. KDS 330 is the successor of KDS 300, which Kone had discontinued in 2020.

Touch Signalization

This is a touch screen fixture, used in both landing and car stations. Both the alarm and intercom (phone) buttons are KDS 300[44]. These fixtures are made by Kone India and appears to be exclusive in India.

Design

The KONE Design (originally called Designer series) is a stylish fixture line with either solid color or graphic pattern (and often custom design). It features a shatterproof polycarbonate panels with sleek metallic frames. The fixtures currently in production are the D20[19] and D40[19] series. These fixture sets don't have Dewhurst chassis but this chassis can found several custom installations.[3] The difference of both D20 and D40 are the height of the panel; D20 panels have partial height while D40 panels have full height. KONE Design fixture is also used for the Polaris destination dispatch elevators as car stations, along with KSS 800 D-design fixtures.

This fixture line is called Design in Europe and KDS D Design in Asia Pacific.

KSS Design

These fixtures are part of the KSS series. Buttons are flushed with illuminating halo, and have indicators with either KSS 300-400/470 or KSS 570-style LED dot-matrix. KSS Design car station can also be used for Polaris elevators as part of KSS 800's D-design finishing.

KDS Design

These fixtures are part of the KDS series. They are similar to the European Design series, but have the option of KDS 300-AUS buttons with braille and tactile. They have KDS 300-style LED floor indicators.

Destination Touchscreen

This is a black LCD touchscreen destination panels for the Kone Destination dispatch system with similar font and arrow as the ones found in KSS 280, KDS 300 and KDS 330 signalizations. It consists of three series; KSP 858, KSP 978P and 979L[45]

KSP 858

This is a wall mounted touchscreen with 298x298 dimensions. It can also be installed with a pedestal.

KSP 978P

This is a black wall mounted touchscreen with 229x448 dimensions.

KSP 979L

This is a white wall mounted touchscreen with 510x360 dimensions with mechanical keypad buttons next to the touchscreen.

Third-party and other fixtures

These are some other variations of fixtures found in Kone elevators in different countries, especially custom-built ones. They usually have Dewhurst and other generic fixtures such as Everbright and even Shanghai STEP.

Third-party fixtures

Some Kone elevators in the United Kingdom and Hong Kong are using fixtures made by Dewhurst. A few Kone elevators in Hong Kong are also using Shanghai STEP and Everbright fixtures.

In Hong Kong, Mainland China and even Taiwan, Kone provides ACU I[20] to provide the interface and connect to the floor announcement unit which complied to the local code requirement[46][47][48][49][50].

Custom fixtures

Some Kone elevators in other countries are also using custom fixtures made according to building owner's requests.

Trivia

  • The European Delta, some KSS and Asian KDS fixtures also have digital segments floor indicators as an option instead of LED dot-matrix.
  • The 1970s-1980s Kone round plastic buttons are often called "Kone Classic" by some European elevator enthusiasts.
  • Regular KSS fixtures have the Kone EcoDisc logo (along with the "Powered by KONE EcoDisc" caption) printed on the round nameplate placed at the bottom of the car stations. For KSS Revive and KSS fixtures in North America, the nameplate has a grey Kone logo instead of the EcoDisc logo (see pictures below).
