For the type of destination dispatch, please refer to Schindler Miconic 10.

Schindler Miconic is a series of elevator and escalator control system produced by Schindler since the 1970s. It is a microprocessor control system for almost all types of Schindler elevators, from low-rise to high-rise applications. It is also used in Schindler escalators as well. Miconic is a successor of Schindler's Aconic, Elconic and Hospitomat, both of which are microprocessor controls released in 1974.

Versions and application[]

The first Miconic control was Miconic E, which was a 1-bit microprocessor control released in 1975. Later, Schindler launched Miconic B in 1978 and Miconic V in 1980, which is a 16-bit microprocessor control. Schindler also made other versions of Miconic such as Miconic BX[1] (replaced by Bionic), C, CX-GC (used in SchindlerElegant Classic[2]), D, GX, LX[3], SX[4], TX[5] and VX. There is also Miconic TX-GC, which was launched in 1998 for high-rise applications worldwide. Miconic TX-GC is used on 300 P (MMR type), Schindler 500, 700 and 7000 elevators.

Schindler also makes Miconic MX-GC since the 2000s. This controller is used in Schindler's high-end machine room less elevator range such as 100 P, 300 P (MRL edition), EuroLift, Elegant MRL, 5400 AP and 5500 elevators. There is also Miconic 10-GC, which was also used in Schindler 300 P elevators, possibly as an option. Not much is known about Miconic 10-GC.

In North America, Schindler made several versions of Miconic such as Miconic GX, HX, HXpress, TX and TXpress. Miconic GX is used on the Schindler 400 A elevators, while Miconic HX is used on Schindler 330A elevators. Miconic HXpress is used for modernization of older hydraulic elevators. Miconic TX is for mid to high-rise traction elevators, which can be provided with Variodyn ACVF or solid state SCR DC drive. It is used on Schindler 6400 NA and American Schindler 7000 elevators. The modernization version for older traction elevators is most likely called TXpress. The Miconic V control system was also used in the United States, which was brought by Schindler Haughton in the 1980s and was used in Schindler Haughton elevators. It was based on Texas Instruments (TI) systems.

Miconic F is used in Schindler escalators and moving walks since 1990. It is now the standard control system for the Schindler 9300AE and Schindler 9700 escalators, as well as Schindler 9500 moving walks.

The characteristic of each controllers[]

Miconic B[]

  • Introduced in 1978
  • Only have a single-stage chime
  • The starting and stopping is rough for traction. (Only if it equipped with Dynatron 2 motor)
  • Can be either hydraulic or traction with AC/2 or VAC motor
  • Speed up to 1.75 m/s
  • Up to 4 elevators in a group
  • It provides two types of the floor position signals, exact position and advanced (stoppable, by the end of the decelerating curve) position
  • The directional indicators will not changed to the opposite direction (opposite call accepted) or turned off (no further call accepted) instantly when the elevator leveling (or doors open when "Advanced Door Opening (ADO)" function is enabled) unless it fully stopped.
  • Motor drive used:
    • Dynatron 2
    • Dynatron S

Miconic V[]

  • Introduced in 1980
  • Can be either VAC traction (Dynatron MV), AC-VVVF traction (Variodyn, with PTCM board), DC traction with Motor-Generator (Transitronic M) or DC traction with Static Converter Drive (TTSP, TTZP)
  • The chime rings only when picking up a call
  • Two-stage chime (As known as the M-Series chime), but it can be adjusted to enable the single-stage chime acted as up arrival chime (only available upon request)
  • Up to 8 elevators in a group
  • Destination dispatch framework support (only available upon request)
  • Successor of Miconic B
  • It only provides advanced (stoppable, by the end of the decelerating curve) floor position signals.
  • The directional indicators will not turned off (no further call accepted) instantly when the elevator leveling (or doors open when "Advanced Door Opening (ADO)" function is enabled) unless it fully stopped, but it will changed to the opposite direction (opposite call accepted) instantly when the elevator leveling.
  • Motor drive used:
    • Dynatron MV (D3, introduced in 1984), Variodyn (Introduced in 1989) : For 2.5 m/s or lower.
    • Transitronic M (MG Set, introduced in 1980), TTSP (Transitronic 6-Pulse aka T6, introduced in 1983), TTZP (Transitronic 12-Pulse aka T12, introduced in 1986): For installation above 2.5 m/s.

Miconic TX (worldwide edition)[]

  • AC-VVVF traction only. (Schindler Variodyn)
  • Single-stage chime for up, faster two-stage chime for down. Some installations use the two-stage chime for both directions (can be adjusted).
  • The chime rings only when picking up a call
  • It only provides advanced (stoppable, by the end of the decelerating curve) floor position signal for the both floor indicators and announcement
  • The directional indicators will be turned off if it not required to pick up further calls when it decelerating, and change to the opposite direction when it required to pick up the calls from/to the opposite direction
  • Successor of Miconic V

Miconic TX (American edition)/TXpress[]

  • Possibly introduced in 1996
  • AC-VVVF traction only. (Schindler Variodyn)
  • Single-stage chime for up, faster two-stage chime for down. Same as Miconic TX-GC but only rings when the doors are fully opened
  • The directional indicators will be turned off after the brakes applied of few seconds, and only light up when it accelerating to the other floors

Miconic TX-GC[]

  • Same as Miconic TX, but the chime is higher pitched
  • Schindler Variodyn (or Variodyn with Power Factor One (PF1) Regenerative Converter) Motor Drive
  • Third-party door components support (such as Wittur and Sematic), as the GC stands for Global Control
  • The chime rings only when picking up a call (arriving)
  • It provides two types of the floor position signals, exact position and advanced (stoppable, by the end of the decelerating curve) position
  • The directional indicators will be turned off after the brakes applied of few seconds, and only light up when it accelerating to the other floors
    • For lifts with PORT or Miconic 10 system installed, the directional indicators will be turned off when the lift is decelerating (optional)
  • Speed up to 10 m/s

Miconic 10-GC[]

  • Succeeded by second generation of the Miconic TX-GC. So the characteristics are almost same as second generation of the Miconic TX-GC
  • Miconic MX-GC Chime
  • Less safety and security devices are presented. (Compared with second generation of the Miconic TX-GC)
  • Can be used in MRL installation or MMR installation

Miconic TX-GC (2nd Generation)[]

  • KONE KDS-Liked or Miconic MX-GC Chime
  • The directional indicators will be turned off when the lift is decelerating. (Only when Miconic 10/PORT system is installed)
  • More safety and security devices are presented. (Compared with Miconic 10-GC)
  • The console of the controller from the two colors LCD display with four control buttons replaced to the LCD touch screen with Android operating system
  • Old version of this controller is called Miconic 10-GC
  • Speed up to 10 m/s

Miconic SX[]

  • Introduced in 1996
  • Can be either hydraulic or traction like AC/2, VAC or geared AC-VVVF (Schindler Variodyn), a replacement of Miconic B
  • Single-stage chime for up, lower-pitched chime for down (Hydraulic only)
  • Single-stage chime for up, faster two-stage chime for down, same as Miconic TX (Traction only)
  • Support up to 22 floors for tract
  • It only provides advanced (stoppable, by the end of the decelerating curve) floor position signal for the both floor indicators and announcement.
    • The directional indicators will be turned off if it not required to pick up the further calls when it is decelerating, and change to the opposite direction when it's required to pick up the calls from/to the opposite direction, which shares the same characteristic with Miconic TX (Older version only)
    • The directional indicators will be turned off after the the elevator stopped for few seconds, and only light up when it accelerating to the other floors, which shares the same characteristics with Miconic TX-GC (Newer version only)

Miconic HX (First generation)[]

  • Hydraulic only
  • Basically same as Miconic SX
  • Miconic B chime ring at once for up or floor passing chime, ring at twice for down (As known as MT chimes)
