Door restrictor

The Door restrictor is a device used on some elevators that prevents the car door from opening unless the elevator is at a floor. Some US states have elevator codes requiring all passenger elevators to be retrofitted with door restrictors. It is unknown if current United States elevator codes require new elevators to have door restrictors.
