The Door cam is the device used on some elevators (possibly not often seen on automatic door elevators) that pushes the interlock roller, causing the interlock to release, and allow the doors to open. The device is mounted to the elevator car. There are 2 types of door cams. Fixed cams are stationary. Retiring cams horizontally move, and retract when the elevator is moving. Fixed cams are likely usually used on elevators serving only a few floors, and retiring cams are likely used on elevators serving more than a few floors.
