China Schindler Elevator (Chinese: 中国迅达电梯有限公司) or CSE was an elevator company formed in 1980 as the result of a joint venture between Schindler Holdings, Jardine Schindler Group and China Construction Machinery in Beijing, China. It was the first foreign joint venture in China, and the first joint venture by Schindler in the country (followed by Suzhou Schindler Elevator in Jiangsu in 1988)[1]. It was also Schindler's first manufacturing facility in Asia.
In 2001, the joint venture was completely taken over by Schindler as a wholly owned subsidiary, bringing an end to the CSE brand. Schindler had took about 60% of majority interest of the joint venture in 1995[1][2].
CSE mainly produced elevators for the Chinese market, but a portion of them were also exported to other countries in Asia through Jardine Schindler and sold at relatively lower prices. Known countries to have used CSE products are British Hong Kong, Singapore and Indonesia. Factories were located in Beijing and Shanghai.
